Using Serial communication issues

Screenshots of my current arduino settings: (Previously both communication setting and serial bridge were commented and debug was uncommented and still nothing)

After figuring out wiring with the multi meter, the only communication pins used between the mega and the esp are as follows:

GPIO 1 (TXD0) on the esp 32 is plugged into pin 20 (Leonard pin 0)(SDA) on the mega
GPIO 3 (RXD0) on the esp 32 is plugged into pin 21 (Leonard pin 1)(RXD1) on the mega
Then Power and Ground are standard

I find it unusual how they dont match up, but nonetheless it works perfectly using the old repository
