Now, your HTML seems to be okay. Please modify your script:

document.addEventListener( 'DOMContentLoaded', function () {
  new Splide( '#image-slider-1' ).mount();
  new Splide( '#image-slider-2' ).mount();
} );

Splide doesn't seem to be initialized. HTML ID should not include "#":
Wrong:
<div id="#image-slider" class="splide">
Correct:
<div id="image-slider" class="splide">

Note that HTML ID must be unique like:
<div id="image-slider-1" class="splide">
<div id="image-slider-2" class="splide">
They should be initialized one by one:
new Splide( '#image-slider-1' ).mount();
new Splide( '#image-slider-2' ).mount();
Or, you can use a class to initialize all at once. Please see "Selectors" section of Getting Started.

• thanks for spotting those errors, I have corrected them on the project but it hasn't seemed to initialise Splide
