Workaround:

createTempFile() will create a file in /tmp with a partially random name:

$ ls -lh /tmp/ | grep kafka-client
-rw-r--r-- 1 ubuntu ubuntu    0 Apr 25 10:22 kafka-client-jaas-config-placeholder13695674278614452518conf

As such, it's necessary to mount the whole tmp directory as a volume in Kubernetes:

apiVersion: apps/v1
kind: Deployment
spec:
  template:
    spec:
      ...
      containers:
        - name: {{ .Chart.Name }}
          image: ...
          ...
          volumeMounts:
            - name: tmp-volume
              mountPath: /tmp
      ...
      volumes:
        - name: tmp-volume
          emptyDir:
            sizeLimit: 64Mi

This way it working, but it would be great if that additional step wouldn't be necessary

@FieteO Thanks for the report. Since you lock down the filesystem by making it read-only, I imagine that would cause issues with any place in the applications and libraries used where it is required to create any files. We can look into this particular issue and see if the framework has a workaround, but you may run into other issues eventually.
