Why would you continue to keep .vimrc & .gvimrc versioned in a separate dotfiles vc, if you're using vim-get's version? It's versioned here as well. I'm closing this as I don't see the value in it, but if you would like to implement it, I'd be happy to pull it in.

Ok, thanks. Your point is clear, yet I'm just kind of person who edits vimrc several times a day (e.g. for adding abbreviations) and reinstalling after each edit is too much for me.
for now I just added
:so myStuff.vim
to my .vimrc for quick updates.

Sure, I get your point. I do make plenty of edits to the .vimrc file too, I just use ':Rake install' from vim and the file will get copied. Personally, I haven't versioned my other dotfiles, since I don't seem to change them as much (if at all), while my vim files see a lot of churn.

I updated my current shortcut for sourcing .vimrc from:

map ,V :source $MYVIMRC<CR>

to:

map ,V :cd ~/git/github/vim-get<CR>:!Rake install<CR>:source $MYVIMRC<CR>

and now it takes only about 3 seconds with my bunch of plugins!
