Is there an example of how to get the current branch name with this?

Would you want it to send an 'error' stating the current branch as well?

Given the overhead of shelling out to get this, it seems extraneous to get it for an error message. My particular use-case is I want git log -1 --format=%h (sometimes --format=%H) and git branch | grep "*" so I can get the current git hash and git branch name to stick into minified css and js header comments.
