I think it's not working because you didn't mention the case block.
it's compulsory to use case block with switch I think.

This ticket is not about /using/ the block, it's that the v-space won't go inside.

Without being to place it there, the space becomes cluttered.

This came up in discussion today. Only the default and case blocks can be put into a switch clap since only those two blocks will run. It would be confusing to have blocks in the switch that did not execute. So, no, we should not allow every block to connect inside the switch block. That said, we should let the vspace block connect, as it is useful for formatting code and is not executed, so there would be no confusion.
