Can you paste an example that does not use parameters/variables and still displays the issue for you?

e.g.,

Sunspot.search(Post) { fulltext "bar", :highlight => true }

Does the difference in syntax still affect results when search_options and params are not used?

I've got your point, but I've tested that - usage of hashes/parameters is irrelevant to the bug.

# This one give no highlights
@search = Sunspot.search(Group) do 
  fulltext "description", :hightlight => true
end

# This one works fine
@search = Sunspot.search(Group) { fulltext "description", :hightlight => true }

There is a typo in your most recent post. :hightlight vs :highlight ?

I'm having trouble here, because as far as I know, there is no functional difference in the two .. even as far as Ruby itself is concerned.

Are you testing the different code in the exact same place?

Ah, even in your first example there is a typo of :hightlight vs. :highlight .. didn't spot that until now. Can you correct the typo and try again?
