When an AMD modules defines a plain JavaScript object, that isn't a class, it is turned into a Module instance.

This allows you to do:

  import { start as appStart } from 'app';

To load the entire module you would do:

  module app from 'app';

If the AMD had returned a function instead, then your code would work.

I know this forking might seem strange, but when using ES6 and AMD together, since so existing precedent has been set, I think this makes it work with modules quite nicely.

I agree. Now that I've plunked around in the code a bit and looked over some of the other es6 import syntax, I think this is a reasonable solution. Thanks!
