OK, so the configure+make+make install workflow works

git clone https://github.com/szcompressor/SZ.git "${PETSC_DIR}/${PETSC_ARCH}/externalpackages/sz-${version}_src"
cd "${PETSC_DIR}/${PETSC_ARCH}/externalpackages/sz-${version}_src"
./configure --prefix="${PETSC_DIR}/${PETSC_ARCH}/externalpackages/sz-${version}" --enable-fortran
make
make install

Hi, I couldn't reproduce the problem on my machine. What I did is following: cd /tmp git clone http://github.com/szcompressor/SZ.git cd SZ mkdir build cd build cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH="/tmp/sz-install" .. make -j make install I can't find errors in your command. Could you try the above commands in your /tmp directory to see if it still has the problem? Best, Sheng

ok, so your commands run flawlessly, and so do the following lines:

cd /tmp
git clone http://github.com/szcompressor/SZ.git SZ_src
mkdir /tmp/SZ_build
cd /tmp/SZ_build
cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH="/tmp/SZ_install" ../SZ_src
make  -j
make install 

Now, installing to the build directory caused the issue I had:

cd /tmp
git clone http://github.com/szcompressor/SZ.git SZ_src
mkdir /tmp/SZ_build
cd /tmp/SZ_build
cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH="/tmp/SZ_build" ../SZ_src
make  -j
make install
