Installation

git clone https://github.com/TechMeetup/TechMeetup.co.uk
cd TechMeetup.co.uk
gem install bundler
bundle install
bundle exec guard

Or, via nix

nix-shell

Note that if the nix shell is invalid, it's probably because the Gemfile has been updated but a new gemset.nix hasn't been generated; run:

nix-shell -p bundler -p bundix --run 'bundler update; bundler lock; bundler package --no-install --path vendor; bundix; rm -rf vendor'

to fix that.

Running

jekyll serve --watch

Glasgow meetup on September 23rd?

I’m considering going along to the Glasgow TechMeetup if it’s on tomorrow night (23rd is the 4th Wednesday of September, right?), but the website doesn’t seem to have been updated:

Any chance of an update?

Contacts on the website

The website currently links to the twitter account only. Adding a link to github would facilitate getting in touch.

The separate Edinburgh TM page still mentions Appleton Tower

This page http://techmeetup.co.uk/edinburgh.html still mentions Appleton Tower as the usual location for Techmeetup.
We should update that page to mention Skyscanner's address.
I think we can do that by adding the location to http://opentechcalendar.co.uk/event/891-welcoming-anyone-involvedworking-in-technology @jarofgreen ?

Videos for February

Hey, could the videos from February be uploaded to the Vimeo channel? A few people missed my talk and are asking to see it :)

Calendar page shows delete events!

There is a "deleted" key in the data, so should be easy to fix.

Add feedback/complaints form to the website

Code of Conduct

To make techmeetup more accessible to newcomers, I've been thinking about whether we should adopt a code of conduct. Not because anything has happened (that I'm aware of) but to set us in good stead for the future.

I know @benseven and @jarofgreen and I have been thinking about how to make improvements to the website, opening this for comments and discussion about what we can do.
