On Linux, Ctrl-K currently acts as "kill to end of line"; once the line is
empty, it'll kill the newline. I expect it does
that on Windows too, though I haven't checked just now. I'm not sure this would
be a good default on Mac OS X,
though, where users generally don't have the same expectations of ctrl-keys.
Are you thinking you'd want it to delete the entire line regardless of where
the cursor is within the line? Which
way do most other editors do it? I'm sure I've seen the "kill to end of line"
behavior somewhere before...

In my current editor or in Pine/Pico on *nix, Ctrl-K deletes the entire line
with the
cursor in it, moving the entire content up one line. I find this useful when I
change my mind about a block of content, and want to get rid of it quickly
(hold down
Ctrl-K, and stuff vanishes). Of course, this works well for me as I use hard
line
ends, so there is no confusion with line wrapping.

I don't *think* i've been messing with my keybindings (much), but ctrl-K kills
lines for me in (Cocoa) Mac OS X
applications.

In Midnight Commander / Cooledit / Norton etc. it's CTRL-Y and it kills the
whole
line no matter what.

This can easily be implemented as a script (see, e.g., stloeffler/TeXworks-scripts@986bdf3)
