Yes, I was able to reproduce a crash like this. It's being triggered by the 
presence of the unmatched open-quote 
within the braces later in the file; this is confusing the 
brace/paren/quote/etc-matching routine. I'll take a look 
at it....

Same problem on Linux (Ubuntu 8.04) with SVN r174 (texwork crashes with a seg 
fault).
In fact the program crashes whenever any opening brace is input in front of the
accent. It also crashes when the cursor is moved over the opening brace in 
front of
it by the keyboard. I tracked the seg fault down to TWUtils::balanceDelim but 
it may
be the data it gets.

I believe this is fixed in svn r.178; I will close this issue as Fixed shortly, 
unless someone reports that they can 
still crash the delimiter-balancing function after this patch.
