Agreed, this would be a useful feature.
Any user interface suggestions? Would a checkbox "Search all open documents" in
the Replace dialog be
suitable, or do you have other ideas?

No other ideas, I'm afraid. A checkbox sounds like the right and usual thing to
do. I
usually end up using the keystrokes anyway.

In svn rev.121, there are now checkboxes in the Find dialog for "Find all
occurrences" and "Search all open files".
I'm not really happy with the interface and the interaction with other options,
but at least there's some basic
functionality available.
(There's no corresponding "Replace in all open files" yet; would that be
helpful, or is it not important?)

I think people would expect to have the "Replace in all files" as a natural
complement to "Search in all files"; at least all the people who use LaTeX in my
house would :-)
Definitely helpful.

"...in all open files" is now available in the Replace dialog as well as Find.
(r.160) This only works with the
"replace all" function; it isn't available (for now, at least) with manual
one-by-one replace operations.

Working in Mac
Search Result window, when "Find all occurrences" is enabled:
--this window shows the full path to the files searched, but that is really
verbose,
and it would probably make more sense as a default to show only the file name,
thus
taking less screen space.
--this window does not currently respond to either Cmd+W or to the Esc key to be
closed. Mouse only?
Thanks and bon courage, Jonathan!
