If the underlying audio API provides data in interleaved format, then that data would have to be converted to non-interleaved format (and vice-versa). Some APIs provide both but I think RtAudio most often chooses the interleaved format. ASIO only provides data in non-interleaved format. CoreAudio uses interleaved data, unless we have to use multiple single-channel streams (mono-mode).
In the end, it shouldn’t concern you, as the routine to convert the data is efficient.

Hi Gary,
I have a small question :
Is there extra treatments when using non-interleaved buffers on each platform ?Thank you very much.

Thank you very much for your fast answer.
I had no doubt that the conversion is efficient and automatised.
I just wanted to know how to implement my callback in order to have the best performances (sorted by priority : on Mac then PC). So I will continue to use interleaved format.
