USB, yes you will need a (powered) USB hub, and BBB will act as the host.
(so axoloti, you connect via the micro usb, i.e. the one that usually goes to the computer)

virtual midi port, Im not sure the performance will be good enough for the eigenharp, but try it, it might be... Im hoping they will sort out the 4.4 kernel as this provides many good things :)

mid term, my plan is to do something different, basically, I want MEC to run as an Bela process, as an Auxiliary thread... then this will directly with the sound engine.
(an intermediate step could be to communicate via OSC...)

note: I don't know how much 'cpu' will be left for the bela sound engine to run, once the eigenharp stuff is running.

note2: one of the reasons Ive not 'integrated' MEC with bela yet, is the standard bela 'make system' is a bit limited (its rather focuses on the integrated UI, and having one source file), so Id need to do something about this ... perhaps a new cmake target.

EigenD... Ive not tried this on the Xenomai distro (=bela) yet, Ive actually been using a BBB build.
(partly Ive been keeping my Bela distro as 'clean as possible')

Id suspect, your issue is its either
a) missing shared libraries, or wrong versions(?)
b) your not using the 'run script', which sets the python path for all the eigend modules.

id need to see the eigend log files/console to see what the errors are.
(I dont think there is any particular reason it shouldn't work)

I do need to sort out my Belas a bit, I prematurely put them in an enclosure, which has made them hard to develop with... so Ive not recently done as much with them as Id like.

from mec.

this is now 'solved' by using the mec-bela project.
(on BBB without bela use a 4.4 kernel and everything is ok)
