Not necessarily all internal lines but lines that are added to one face and not pushed through. Look at the top section of the example I attached. These would be cut lines from a lasering standpoint but not cut through. Imagine a border for an inlay or in this case just fine decorative lines.
I can easily add them in CAD but it sure would be nice to just do it all here and eliminate a step.

Right, so "internal" edges would become engraving edges? Add them to another layer might make it easier to pull them out when cutting?
Can you attach some sample models? (Strip down to just the essentials.) When I have models from somebody else it usually flush out more bugs than when I create my own models.
