Sorry, I forgot to update here as well, but yes, the issue seems to be some changes in newer versions of Capybara and Clearance.

The short solution (if you don't want to implement the patch yourself, or if it isn't accepted into the master branch) is to find your local gem repository, go into $gem_path/template/suspenders.rb and remove the replace_in_file for capybara_javascript_emulation.

Also, since there is a new version of clearance out, you might want to change the rails generate clearance and rails generate clearance_views to rails generate clearnce:install and rails generate clearance;views.
