Address duplicate column names

Hmmmm, I'm not a big fan of automatically changing column names. It's pretty easy to do yourself:

names(df) <- make.unique(names(df))

Seconded. This default would help me tidy up a computer generated messy spreadsheet I don't control.

Issue renamed. Presumably readxl will follow readr re: duplicate column names.

readr::read_csv("x,x,y\n1,2,3\n")
#> Warning: Duplicated column names deduplicated: 'x' => 'x_1' [2]
#> # A tibble: 1 × 3
#>       x   x_1     y
#>   <int> <int> <int>
#> 1     1     2     3
