dminr-1

A repo for all my research regarding my second session working on the entity_connections task for the dminr project. Will explore quality dataset creation, code optimisation and multithreading for web services, among other things.

entity_connections

A natural language processing tool for jounalists to draw connections between a search term and related entities. News articles are retrieved by the INJECT system, and the resulting article body is parsed. Using a Machine Learning technique (BERT), the named entities are extracted and processesed. A statistical method (BM25+) is then used to rank the relevance of the returned entities, and a ranked list of entities is returned based on their predicted relevance to the initial search.
