Your system information shows that you run the Toolbox with Java 9. The Toolbox does not work with Java 9 (yet). See also issue #38.

Hmm. I installed openjdk-8-jdk... In any case, I'll try with the oracle JDK, as the other issue suggests. This restriction would be great to document in a readme or something.

The package openjdk-8-jdk is fine, you won't have to switch to a 1.8 Oracle JDK.

However, your system does not use openjdk-8-jdk. Instead, it uses a nightly build of Java 1.9 from April 2016 to launch the Toolbox.

`/usr/bin/java` seems to be being provided by openjdk-9-jre-headless... which should have been removed, but apparently wasn't. I think there's something funky with Ubuntu's openjdk packages. But, anyway! Thanks for this. I've now successfully solved my problem. Will close the issue.
