Hi Daren, thanks for reporting it.
Have you try with Duplicity 0.7 and it does work? I haven't try yet. What do you suggest I can do?

Ive yet to test on Ubuntu, but on Centos 7, i had to download duplicity
source and compile version duplicity 0.7.03
annoying I know, just thought I'd give you a heads up. I need to do
more testing, along with the testing for Honeycomb, so will update this
ticket when i know more,

My plan is migrate all bash bits to python at some point this year but I don’t know if can make it in a short term.

Ahh very good, well reach out if you need some help testing. The
honeycomb build is coming along, and we'd love to keep it all running on
newer OS's.
