I just tested https://uppy.io/examples/ and it works for me. could you record a screencast maybe?

Seems likely you have not setup Companion or your Instagram app settings correctly. Closing but we can continue the discussion.

@AlbertoIreneoGaucin speaks of Uppy's https://uppy.io/examples page rather than about Uppy's Instagram provider in general, I can reproduce his issue.

I think it's because Instagram is owned by Facebook, and we lost our Facebook credentials. So both aren't working. This is being worked on but it's a long tedious process.

lakesare avatar lakesare commented on September 21, 2024

That makes sense, so losing Facebook credentials made us automatically go from "Live" to "Development" mode, but "Development" mode only allows "Instagram Testers" instagram accounts to connect (as described here loicnestler/instagram-basic-display#2 (comment))

@lakesare that's probably it! explains why it works for me. our facebook app is still in "development" mode:

Aha, me getting added as an "Instagram Tester" did remove the "Insufficient developer role: insufficient developer role" error for me, so uppy.io's demo works for me now.

Now we have two providers that are not working on uppy.io - Instagram & Facebook.
The way we're dealing with Facebook is we just removed it from the "Remote sources" section.
We could remove Instagram too, but I think what we should do instead is to have both Instagram & Facebook available in the "Remote sources" section, because people go to that demo to see what integrations are supported.
Let's just add both integrations back, and add a tooltip that says "it's currently not working on uppy.io, but will work for you". @mifi, @Murderlon?

PS. While we're at it - Screencast checkbox in the "Remote sources" section isn't working.

It seems to be that the issue still exists (I'm using Transloadit's paid service)

Hi @nirohfeld!
Facebook approved uppy.io for a few days, but now they closed us down again, so Facebook and Instagram integrations don't work again (we should indicate that on uppy.io!).
Facebook & Instagram intagrations will work for your application however, it's only a problem for our uppy.io examples.
