¯_(ツ)_/¯
from rocketinstaller.
I will never understand why @fr34kyn01535 won't allow me to download just like the browsers do, even if there is no difference...I will never give up an open source project just to "hide" my own API Key.
Since he added a captcha, I will likely give up this project. Congratz.

Well, I found a method to fix it, ♬♬ never gonna give it up ♬♬
from rocketinstaller.
Did you took your time to see my installer? the GetRocket, there is no problem on making it ask for a key, anyone can get a key on the website, you could even add a way for ppl to login with their rocket credentials and capture the key
from rocketinstaller.
The easier method: I will just add a very simple Web Browser, where the user has to click on "download" and capture the link with the download event to manually download and install it automatically.

If they have to accept the license & see our website this is all thats required to comply to the terms.

This time @fr34kyn01535 should be pleasened
Edit: he was faster..
If your whole issue was the license, why didn't you just tell me that
from rocketinstaller.
I don't have a problem to force everybody to register. If somebody abuses this again i will setup registration & manual approval.

First, I still don't share any key. Second, you are giving temporary keys for downloads, I just download the same way how browsers do. So every browser is breaking the license too...
I still don't think that it was an "abuse"...
from rocketinstaller.
Ok, lets make this very easy for you: Every server that does somehow automate the download NEEDS an API key. Your tool on the otherside is useless if not completely automated. The conclusion? Everybody using your tool needs an API key.
from rocketinstaller.
And I get my temporary API key which you are giving to everyone.
Also, I didn't found the part where it says that automated downloads need an API Key
from rocketinstaller.
why do you insist on swimming against the stream?
from rocketinstaller.
Because it still not an "automated" download. It the same way how browsers download, I don't see any reason to make a difference between my program and a browser user who clicks on "download".
Anyway, I will add the form, so anyone can download it that way...
I will add an "-directdownload" option for those, who want to enable auto-updates (e.g. with scripts or auto-schedule). This will require a registered API key, ok? @fr34kyn01535
from rocketinstaller.
simple, because the ppl behind the browser will read the license. and not behind you tool.
from rocketinstaller.
Again, if the issue was the license, he could simply tell me that, but no, instead he blocks my programs
from rocketinstaller.
Are you mad that i am breaking my own terms, but you are not allowed to? I can't track if other programs show the license. I also don't know if the users are aware that there is a website.
from rocketinstaller.
No, everyone is breaking the terms by downloading rocket..
from rocketinstaller.
how come?
from rocketinstaller.
Nope. I can repeat it again, its the first sentence:
In order to automatically download Rocket you need an API key.
from rocketinstaller.
They download it the same way how I do. Any its not an automated download.
Anyway, since there is captcha for those temp keys, I will just use the webbrowser.
So it should be no problem anyway...
from rocketinstaller.
by using the tool the license is not shown.
from rocketinstaller.
if you make a tool that shows the license, I don't see why it will get rejected
from rocketinstaller.
If he just simply asked for that, I would immediatly add the license.
from rocketinstaller.
In order to automatically download Rocket you need an API key.
from rocketinstaller.
Again, it wasn't an auto download...
from rocketinstaller.
If you download Rocket, extract it, and move it into the right folders with a software, this is the definition of automation.
from rocketinstaller.
So it will be still automated if the user clicks on "download" and the program extracts and moves it ¯_(ツ)_/¯
from rocketinstaller.
pretty much
