Hello Laurent,
I have added some changes which output the reporter errors to stdout. Would you please get the latest binary, try again and report the error message back to me?
I suspect this is as runtime dependency error on some fonts required by plotinum
.
Thanks!
from vegeta.
Hi
I updated the binary from https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/83217940/vegeta-linux-amd64.tar but I see no stderr messages. The output is
zsh/3 4627 % ./vegeta -duration=60s -ordering="sequential" -output="out" -rate=20 -reporter="plot:timings" -targets="targets.txt"
2013/08/26 09:59:48 Vegeta is attacking 1 targets in sequential order for 1m0s...
2013/08/26 10:00:48 Done!
2013/08/26 10:00:48 Writing report to 'out'...
2013/08/26 10:00:48 Failed to report
Maybe I still have an old binary. Its hash is :
zsh/3 4628 % md5sum vegeta
0b1ee5ac05ae1a298b7be38aa5bd1085 vegeta

I am sorry for not being too responsive. I am travelling and away from keyboard often.
Previously I released those new binaries but I named them incorrectly.
They should accessible under the provided links now.
PS: I have to automate this release process ;)

I have tested this myself on a Vagrant box and this is what I get.
vagrant@lucid64:~$ ./vegeta -duration=10s -rate=100 -reporter=plot:timings
2013/08/30 20:50:49 Vegeta is attacking 1 targets in random order for 10s...
2013/08/30 20:50:59 Done!
2013/08/30 20:50:59 Writing report to 'stdout'...
2013/08/30 20:50:59 Failed to report: Failed to locate a font file NimbusRomNo9L-Regu.ttf for font name Times-Roman
This seems like an unsatisfied runtime dependency of plotinum (the plotting library used to create the svg file).
I'll have to look further into how to solve this properly (which could mean dissing plotinum).

It seems to be a known problem: https://code.google.com/p/plotinum/issues/detail?id=80&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Priority%20Owner%20Reporter%20Summary
