This bug should have been fixed since the 2.0.3 release. Can you try those savefiles against master? Damage seems to be working fine for me.

I still seemed invincible for a while, but I think it was due to some relatively good equipment, once enemies shattered my cloak of reflection they could deal me damage. So seems fixed in master indeed.

That's a true point. A high enough AC can make you practically invincible against all save the toughest opponents.
