xz doesn't support storing files directly. You have to convert your file structure into a byte stream. The typical way under Unix is using the tar format. Go supports archive/tar in the standard library to do that. Check the example in the package documentation and use an xz.Writer
as argument for tar.NewWriter
instead of the buffer.
