Thanks, @jack-oquin . I did not think of the problem with binary packages. Yes, you are absolutely right here.
I agree that we should have a global system directory for log files. I was aware of this problem, but was not sure how to solve it. Yes, please remove the trajectory_following.cpp file and add /diagnostics into the topic list. It will be great, if you can work on these issues. Thanks!

What is the procedure for uploading the data? Where on the network do they go?
Who runs frame_recording and get_distance.py, and when?

After discussion last week, the consensus was to simplify the interface by removing the account
parameter, always saving bags under the current user's home directory.
Our procedures should simply ask people to run the upload
script when they are finished using the robot. If necessary, we can write a script that syncs the bags from every user's directories.

Also, @shiqizhang6 suggested that deleting bags after uploading them be optional, since it is sometimes useful to retain them on the robot. He warned that these files can get quite large when the robot runs for a long period.
