D'oh...
You response reminded me that I needed to wrap a try...catch around the client send. When I did so...it appears to be working now. I'll do some more testing and make sure it is as I would expect. A quick test looks good for the moment.

I've tried this as you described.
- Having a running server and a running client.
- They exchange messages successfully in a loop, one message per second.
- As soon as I close the server, the client gets an exception that the server denied the connection (i.e. is not there anymore, so no one listens to the port anymore).
So in my test scenario, everything seems to work as expected.
Did I misunderstand you issue report here? And/or can you create a Minimal, Reproducible Example for me, please?
