Up to commit 6d2fa40 there is a basic example of how a magic command can be built into a small package, to be installed from the .tar.gz with pip, and imported into IPython/Jupyter. With a running local instance, this can connect to a couple of the namespace endpoints over HTTP.

Next steps should probably include:

• authentication
• making HTTP requests robust
• tests if possible

Up to 3cf2c72 it is possible to generate a session object that holds the URLs and selected namespace for VVP, representing a connection to VVP.

A new cell magic, %%execute_catalog_statement, calls the catalog(ue) endpoint to execute the SQL in the cell following the magic. This can use any session object/variable name given, showing that multiple connections should be in principle possible.
