@poloskin In FF41- you will need to disable whitelist for MSE.
Safari supports MSE only from 8 version.

I had issues with AAC decoder on Opera 32 on Ubuntu, but it works for me in 33. Seems they improved codec suport on linux with version 33: http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2015/10/opera-beta-33-0-1990-35-update/

Firefox 42 has just been released in the stable release channel ! This brings MSE support whithout whitelist. I tested hls.js demo page on windows and MacOS, it seems to work.

For reference, still not available on FF42 on Linux (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1185611#c21); i enabled media.mediasource.enabled (mp4.enabled seems to be default now), still nothing, any idea ?

Yes, it seems it's still not available on FF42 Ubuntu. I'm not sure why, however it is available in version 43.0b2, and hls.js demo seems to play fine. Seems Linux users will have to wait until FF43

That's correct. MSE won't be enabled by default on Linux until FF 43 (December 15).
