That's an interesting idea. I was assuming that you might want to go off and look at something in the preview without losing where you are in the source. I'll mark this as a feature request. It could be a configuration option.

But this seems to have much more functionality than a simple markdown sync. I mean I don't usually write KaTeX...

Yes I think generally you'll want both source-to-preview syncing and preview-to-source syncing; and want to, exceptionally and temporarily, disable syncing (in both directions?).

It could be a configuration option.

I'd suggest making available a keyboard shortcut to toggle syncing.
