I think it's quite important to make sure the api outputs the same data structure. And I am using ImageData.data as the data structure for channel data. It's more commonly accepted.

Therefore in your situation, I recommend you to try to add a adaptor function like (colorType, imageData) => formattedImageData.

Thanks, I understand. The adaptor function is another way to go, but I need to decode as fast as possible and don't want to go through another mapping process.

For now, I resorted to fast-png, which goes with the philosophy of input format = output format.
