Cavern decodes the Atmos streams to PCM, and the default 5.1.2 layout is exactly what you need, sides become the heights.

For the launch issue, please try to open it from a console, and paste the error displayed there here. The error might also be present in the Windows event log.

If you mean changing the channels, it's possible by making for example 9.1.6 exports and remixing it later with FFmpeg, but it's easier to keep the original track, it's smaller.

I mean, play a 7.1 atmos movie in kodi or potplayer and real-time re-encode side channels as height channels. (Without converting first in cavernizeGUI, asking for too much?)

dang. in any case, thank you so much for the project. this is the only thing that brings me closer to atmos (other than those darn expensive avr's).
Hoping 'real-time' could be implemented in kodi as a plugin or something similar 🤞
