Not sure how well it will work and since macOS uses UUID (this setting should influence the app only), the display layout might not be retained properly. I can post an interim build to test.

Fantastic I just tried it out using "Match vendor, model, name".
The display is correctly found now and always remembers my resolution!
Also it does remember what profile I want as it is always selected in the menu now when it detects my display.

Regarding color profile tho, we might need the protect color thingy you mentioned earlier.
I noticed, that when I replug the adapter and the ID changes.
My custom color profile is selected in the menu of BetterDisplay but it's not active if you look in the System Settings Displays. So even if it looks selected the display default profile is active.
It never re-applies the color profile when detecting the display.

Except for this it seems to be working and it is way easier to select the color profile from the menu instead of using system settings.
