Does it have to do with the difference in the way Windows and Mac/Linux manage file paths?
I noticed this in my console from webpack-dev-server. Notice the '~' in the filepath. I don't think that works on Windows:

@joshburgess, do you still have this issue? If so, do you also have it when using webpack-dev-server? Last week I started a windows VM because of some unrelated issue, and I successfully tested that auto-reload works.
@robbyemmert, this is not related, it's only for shortening the path you see in the console.
