This is basically implemented, but suffers from a serious design challenge: unlike the other column types this really needs to be parametized. The user should be able to provide a known date format. However, the current "past column types as types" paradigm makes this extremely cumbersome. A few options, none of them perfect:
- Instantiate types prior to instantiating the table and then have the table "assign" them their indices. (Messy, poorly encapsulated.)
- Instantiate type factories which instantiated columns. (Clean but confusing for power users.)
- Pass further arguments as "kwargs dict" to the Table. (Separates attributes of columns into parallel data structures. Not DRY.)
