Thanks for the comment, you can do the following:

foreach($validated as $v) {
    switch($v['field']) {
        case 'credit_card':
            echo "- The credit card provided is not valid.\n";
            break;
        case 'username':
            echo "- The username provided is not valid.\n";
            break;
            .... etc
    }
}

Reason for this is that you can be very specific in the error messages (fields and corresponding validation rule names).

So, in a web app, you'd loop through the returned array and construct a group of messages to be passed back to the browser as flash data or directly injected in rendered pages.
