As posted, your example doesn't work any better for me with ncurses than with PDCurses. However, you can fix it by inserting the (non-intuitive) line keypad(menu_win, TRUE);
after the newwin()
call. Basically, you should call this if you intend on reading any "special" key values (not simple text) via wgetch()
, including KEY_MOUSE
.
Meanwhile, the value you've given to NCURSES_MOUSE_VERSION is incorrect -- it should be something like 2 -- and you should also include string.h. (And, you really should use PDC_NCMOUSE, not NCURSES_MOUSE_VERSION.) You should also check for BUTTON1_CLICKED, in addition to (or instead of) BUTTON1_PRESSED. PRESSED is only returned for a press without a release, if there's no release within the "click interval".

Okay, that worked, thank you!
This was just based on the TLDP example. If that example is wrong on using the wgetch()
, like you pointed out, it's good to know so and have this documented (hence this ticket).
I am closing this ticket as resolved, because the example is working with PDCurses, and the code is working without a major change or breakage in behavior (per the example).
