OK, there's a couple of things as play here.
Firstly, as per the example in the README, the syntax to use is the one liner (it's not old syntax atm as there isn't an alternative offered by RSpec). So your test would look like this...
describe AwesomeJob do
it { should be_processed_in :download }
end
This works as RSpec creates an instance automatically in subject
and the matcher expects an instance.
This however explains why expect(AwesomeJob).to be_processed_in :download
does not work and is indeed a bug (as the README says you can do this).
I'll put some time aside to fix this asap
from rspec-sidekiq.
