If your job class is inherited from ActiveJob::Base:

# in rails_helper.rb
RSpec.configure do |config|
  config.include ActiveJob::TestHelper
  # etc
end

# in your spec

expect {
  # blablabla
}.to enqueue_job(MyAwesomeJob)

If your job class includes Sidekiq::Worker:

# in your spec
expect {
  # blablabla
}.to change(MyAwesomeJob.jobs, :size).by(1)

For anyone who stumbles upon same issue -
try including gem 'rspec-sidekiq' in your Gemfile.

I have the same issue. sidekiq 5.0.5 and rspec-sidekiq 3.0.3

Looking at the other available assertions, these don't seem to work either:

Using expect(CustomJob).to have(1).jobs throws:

Failure/Error: expect(CustomJob).to have(1).jobs
     NoMethodError:
       undefined method `have' for #<RSpec::ExampleGroups::CustomGateway:0x007fc82b9d0328>

And using expect(CustomJob.jobs.size).to eq(1) throws:

Failure/Error: expect(CustomJob.jobs.size).to eq(1)
     NoMethodError:
       undefined method `jobs' for CustomJob:Class

I'm trying to figure out the same problem. It looks like jobs is defined in Sidekiq::Worker, so I guess the expectation needs one of those objects instead of an ActiveJob object.

bryanhickerson avatar bryanhickerson commented on July 30, 2024

That was the case. If you look at the spec for have_enqueued_job, you can see an example of checking that an ActiveJob was enqueued by the Sidekiq worker.
