OK, indeed there were a few issues in AnimationCache... first of which is the fact that I was never calling IncrementReferenceCount. I took this class from an abandoned experimental branch, and I made a mistake when I integrated it in the master branch... It should be fixed now; I'll update the NuGet package ASAP.

I think you can reproduce the leak very simply by using a tab control with two pages, where you have an itemscontrol bound to a collection of gif urls in each tab. Switching the tabs back and forth will unload and load the images to provoke it.

I just tested it, and i can't reproduce the leak. It seems to be fixed with your latest version.
