Are you also using BIOS v300 for the OpenCore version?

I have unlocked CFG and entered the personal information, but can’t seem to boot neither the installed Catalina nor the Big Sur installer.

I almost immediately get a kernel panic after selecting the boot option.

Hi @xXConcasXx, I was trying to make an OpenCore EFI for this very same machine... It's working, but only when I connect my laptop to an external display. If I try to use my internal display, it get's stuck in gIOScreenLockState 3 error...

Did you faced the same issue? If so... how did you fix it?

I had your same problem some time ago, I fixed it by using device-id "00001619" and no AAPLigplatformid, but unfortunately this ultimately results in constantly having 31mb of vram and no graphic acceleration.
I'm still waiting for someone to find a fix for that, it looks like enable-hdmi "01000000", which fixed it for me on Catalina, is not functioning on Big Sur and thus I couldn't find another way to completely fix graphics.

how did you unblock CFG? if the changes are in the posted efi, it is not correct, AppleXcpmCfgLock is enabled, if CFG is unlocked in the AppleXcpmCfgLock bios it must be 0.
Your EFIs that you posted are incorrect, you have patched dsdt for lighting and trackpad, not very good.

The bios 300 does not have the option to unlock cfg, it should be replaced with a modified bios, I tried to modify it with CFG unlocked, but there is a security system that verifies the size in bytes of .bios file by not letting it be installed, if anyone he knows more about the topic, he might succeed, and maybe post it.

Concass is not present during this period. I send a correct Efi, it has been tested for a month with Catalina without problems, it starts the installation with Big Sur, thanks to WEG 1.4.6.(enable 4k monitor with flag -igfxmpc, the FHD model was already working), but I personally haven't installed it, if anyone wants to try it, if anyone wants to be beta testing it should have no problem

To make it work perfectly:

  1. smbios 13.1 (if you have 13.3 hdmi doesn't work)
  2. bcrm94360cs2 (no patches)
  3. disable hibernation (use hackintool or terminal ).
  4. enter the data of your smbios

have you replaced all the efi? or just a few pieces of mine attached? nvram is reading you an older version of opencore.
copy entirely my efi with only your smbios values and in the boot reset the nvram.
probably, you took the attached efi and replaced your config.
alternatively you followed the instructions but used an outdated opencore configurator, it is recommended to use xcode

Worked like a charm! I got to the Desktop and the installation seems fully working up until now.

I will further test in the next days and try some edits (for example removing the touchid kext, I don't need it).

As of now, thank you very much for your hard work! It's very appreciated and I'll consider donating when I'll have the chance!

are you doing a clean install or are you updating from catalina? disable the sip, in config.plist in the entry csr-active-config enter FF0F0000

Clean install, will try disabling the sip. Thank you!

what version of bios do you have?
are you installing on nvme ssd (m.2)?

Version 300 (previous Clover Catalina build worked)
I am in fact installing on the default m.2 nvme ssd, should I add some kexts?
P.S. Grazie per il supporto ;)

yes, that's probably the error, you need to add nvmefix.kext.
in opencore it must also be integrated in the config.plist

Unfortunately, the problem remains even with nvmefix.kext and sip disabled (I double checked that everything was done correctly in config.plist).
Another strange and maybe related problem is that macOS Installer won't let me install on an APFS formatted drive, telling me a firmware update is needed and to choose macOS Extended (Journaled) instead (which is weird, it has never happened to me before).
Suggestions?

Sorry for delay because of work.

Here is my Config file after all error gone, just one problem the battery losing charge fast.

Config.plist.zip

Try this, I have optimized the cpu, entered kext wifi for intel and enabled ethernet (in my configuration it is disabled), you just have to enter the values of your smbios with xcode
Your main efi may overwrite the main config values (with writeflash true) if opened together, copy them to a text file without opening your current config, paste them into the attached config and finally replace.

Hi again! I've been testing @alexgann87 EFI for a while now and found some small problems like random kernel panics, specially when trying to wake the pc by closing and reopening the lid after a while (nothing serious, though, the experience is overall very smooth).

Another thing I noticed is that macOS is very slow if compared to the old Clover + Catalina EFI, probably to try and fix the battery drains: would removing CPUFriend and CPUFriendDataProvider give it a little bit more power? (I always use my pc with the charger, so I don't care about battery going down fast)

Keep up the good work and have a nice day!

On the terminal:

sudo pmset autopoweroff 0
sudo pmset powernap 0
sudo pmset standby 0
sudo pmset proximitywake 0

kernel panics can also be caused by Big Sur bugs, my advice is not to close the lid, if I remember correctly there is an option in the bios that controls the closing of the lid

Enable trim

check if the trim is enabled, if it is disabled, go to the terminal:

sudo trimforce enable

After further testing, Big Sur keeps kernel panicking, it never lasts more than 3 hours straight, even with no hibernation, no sleep and without ever closing the lid.
I'm rolling back to Windows as of now, I keep losing my work and that's no good.

what smbios are you using?
if you work with your laptop, it's wrong to switch to big sur, you had to wait for at least 11.5

I solved the kernel panic issue, after much testing, i found that the problem was caused by the power management of the display, the operating system was expecting a mac book 13.1 charge of 60W while a macbook 13.3 100W, ours laptop is around 48W, this control had to be disabled. I will publish a release soon

alexgann87 avatar alexgann87 commented on May 24, 2024

this is for 13.3, it won't work hdmi (only with 13.1) i don't use it.
Add the kext wifi if you don't have a native card (i don't know your hardware), if you want to enable ethernet remove nullethernet.kext and insert Realtek RTL8111.kext, if you use ssd nvme use nvmefix.kext.
To solve sleep (boot args have been inserted, do not remove them) also give the commands:

sudo rm -r /var/vm/sleepimage
sudo pmset autopoweroff 0
sudo pmset powernap 0
sudo pmset standby 0
sudo pmset proximitywake 0
sudo pmset -a sleep 0
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
