Here is a reproduction script:

• navigate to https://github.com/you-dont-need/You-Dont-Need-JavaScript#Modal
• load the first example https://codepen.io/peiche/pen/kQwYVJ
• change the browser window height so that the html content starts to scroll
• scroll to the bottom
• click on 'click me'
• the modal appears but in the background the content scrolls to the top
• if the button is somewhere in the middle of a page it would scroll away from that location and confuse the user
