Good idea,
I think GameID can stay as is, or be hashed. Right now it is YYYYMMDD0<home-team 3 letter code> which is always going to be unique.
Team ID could be franchise+year, and probably should be separated by sub-team (offense, defense, special teams etc.).

Hey guys,
Just wanted to say this dataset is awesome and I would love to help you guys on this project. I'm relatively new to github collaboration so bear with me if I ask some novice questions.
I downloaded the dataset from kaggle and cloned the repo from github. it seems the data from kaggle doesn't contain any game id's as the readme describes. I assume kaggle data is just out of date. Whats the best way for me to get the data with the game ID's?
Another question: in the game stats data, an entry just means that a certain player was on the roster for that game, right? It doesn't necessary mean that that player actually PLAYED in the game, right? For player ID 1809 ('Robert Blackmon'), it's just a bunch of 0's for every field for the first couple entries. I assume it's because he was a rookie and didn't actually play in those games. Is this correct?
