You are right - it expects a string

Not sure what's your end goal is here - do you want to clamp the text in your object or just want the clamp-lines
to return null in all cases when text
is not a String, so your app doesn't break?

It's alright, I wanted to handle the object the same way a string is rendered.
For example this using 'react-intl' this<FormattedMessage id="Charges.payment" defaultMessage="PAYMENT" />
would return the word 'Payment' to the browser but the return type would be a node. Doing this makes it easier for me to translate my app by looking up the id from a json file.

Since the library was intended to use String
for the text
prop, I've added prop type checking, so in the future anyone with your use case will be warned what's happening and why.
