A-A drone range

A basic air-to-air training range, with drones flying known and predictable circular and/ or racetrack patterns in order to practice procedures and weapons in a permissive environment.

  • Radar mechanics
  • Intercepts, sorts, melds etc
  • Missile shots
  • Gunnery

Deep AR missions

Deep AR missions for the A-10 hunting armour, SCUD's which would involve more flight planning, dodging/evading certain areas etc. Something like the first mission of Green Sword or strike done in range 4B comning in from the corridor. This would give more to the flight planning for A-10C pilots

Establishing SIDs and STARs

Would be a great addition if we could have SIDs and STARs for the most relevant airbases. Maybe begin with Al Dhafra.

REQ HELP: Range 14 - Dynamic CAS Range - SAMs for complexity

Is it possible to add the following to the Range 14 Cas Scenario:
Add a option to run CAS scenario with SAM or without SAM.

(with SAM's CAS flights may need to use Low-level procedures)

If choosing to run with SAM, then one of the following SAMs will be activated: (currently in place, but set as late activated)

For range 10 (or alternatively range 2 when it is ready), would it be possible to get IR SAMs (SA-13, SA-9, MANPADs) as well as a few SA-19 (SACLOS guided)? We would appreciate this for our new evasion tactics lesson in the 617th.

REQ HELP: Range 10 IADS - Scenariotraining

In support of scenariotraining in Range 10, I request the following IADS function.
The function should be availeble via the F10 menu.

In Range 10, (south part) there are 1 EWR, 3 threat sites and 1 mobile threat site.

The 4 threatsites is protecting a target area. The intention is to have the IADS protecting the high value target, and having options to conduct AI strikes against this target either with IADS off, IADS easy , IADS medium or IADS hard ( to have options to include SEAD element or simply practice SEAD)

IADS Easy: Randomly select 2 of the 4 threatsites and let them be on all the time.

IADS Medium: Randomly select 3 of the 4 threatsites to be on.
When a HARM is fired at any of the sites: shut down the radar on that threatsite. (

IADS Hard: All 4 sites are in play
Only EWR is on initially. Once EWR detetcts a contact within the zone: R10_EWR it turns on Threatsite_1.

If a HARM is launched at Threatsite_1 or Threatsite_EWR then all other threat sites is activated aswell. Threatsite_2 , 3 and 4.

When a HARM is fired at any of the sites: shut down the radar on that threatsite.

F16 UHF Presets A/C on Apron 6

Preset #2 was not 237 as per Preset Sheet, believe it was 229 or similar.

This was the same for two A/C parked Apron 6, another Viper on different apron had correct freq.

REQ HELP: Range 10 - Mobile SAM zone

For range 10, would it be possible to add in a selection of SAM threats based on the group beeing spawned in?
This is intended for a mobile SAM zone for simple threats toward AR / SCAR flights.

Spawn in in the same zone as the other targets in Range 10 , in: AR_zone_R10 (already in the .miz)
Spawn in randomly somewhere in the zone.

The options for the SAMs are located in the NorthWest corner of the map, in Iran as late activated groups.

Range 10, Option 1: Should spawn in Range 10 option 1-1 or 1-2 or nothing

Range 10, Option 2: Should spawn in Range 10 option 2-1 or 2-2 or nothing
Range 10, Option 3: Should spawn in Range 10 option 3-1 or 3-2 or 3-3 or nothing
Range 10, Option 4: Should spawn in Range 10 option 4-1 or 4-2 or nothing
Range 10, Option 5: Should spawn in Range 10 option 5-1 or 5-2 or nothing

All groups should be on in an interval between 2 minutes until 20 minutes, and off between 2 minutes and 20 minutes.

REQ HELP: Add on/off functionality for Blue SAM at Al Dahfra

At Al Dahfra there is now placed a BLUE SAM, a patriot batter for advanced training scenarios.

Is it possible to add a on/off function in the F10 menu. So it can be turned on and off
(so it can be turned off after exercise, so red ac can recover at Al Dahfra to maximise traffic.)

The Group is already in the .miz with the following name:AL_DAHFRA_PATRIOT

On demand AI defence (of course, here it is)

Segmented A-A area via dispatcher with cold war borders, placed in an area like Shiraz or Kerman, with a box of reasonable size away from a2g ranges.

Countering usual objections:
a) The cold war borders prevent AI traveling to areas you don't want them in. We've seen OPUF, we don't really see them coming south so we know it's contained
b) There's a lot of land mass, so deep strikes are still available almost to the limit of Hornet/Viper fuel ranges in the "other" corner. 150nm travel is available
c) Missile trainer is still available
d) It's very easy to script stopping it and deleting all aircraft mid mission. Can be via F10 menu where other ranges are, or even via codewords placed in markers
e) Not suggesting it is always present - AI will not be there by default
f) It doesn't imply replacing Humans where possible
g) Should be balanced with appropriate Redfor slots in Shiraz/Kerman

Design:

  • Mostly limited by menu space if menu's are what are being used
  • You can have GCI only, CAP only, or both
  • You can setup specific AI plane types via the menu, or random, or fixed
  • Requires a single AWACS or EWR that has coverage over the box.
  • You can change the box's size dynamically too

Why:

Raising the correct amount of people for anything large scale is very difficult. You can't get multiple flights of F-14 players (8 players) easily to practice large scale air to air and training often resolves down to 1v1, and maximum (and rare) 2v2.

It takes a lot of effort to raise A-A events with anything but Tomcat vs Hornet, so we train and get bogged down in the same aircraft/weapon which affects testing minimum ranges, not learning ranges (who here has actually fought an R40 engagement or knows what it is?)

Having both sides with humans involves originating from the same airbase or long travel times to the MOA, whereby you are lucky to get 2-3 sets in due to fuel, which means 90 minutes of ferry and startup for 10 minutes of combat - which is an inferior learning pace.

There's nothing complex in this, the question of why not usually cites:

  • Safety and disruption possibilities to other trainers
  • Lack of human behaviour - we can use Humans, but the problem is numbers and dealing with Human lateness, availability and module restrictions
  • Server Performance (I've never heard/seen a single instance of the server becoming sub optimal with AI, and we can turn it on/off and customise it)

Ability to restrict missile script to certain zones?

Is it possible to restrict the missile script to certain zones?
For example having it enabled over Ranges, but not over IRAN?

Looking at the overall scenario, and using a combination of OPUF and this new training mission ( with static templates it is easy to add stuff and transform this mission into a combat event on short notice, and with minimum effort.

But it would require the missile script to be able to work in only some zones.

Available emmergency Hot start slots (read the reasoning and use-case)

If everyone in the squadron wrote down times where someone in their flight or another you were working with was

  • Late
  • Had a technical problem
  • Was otherwise unable to join at the right time

We would have many legitimate reasons where a hot start or air start would have saved the other people that didn't have an issue, 10+ minutes of their training time.

This issue does not suggest using this becomes main stream, just that it provides an option that can correct a problem.

They can come with guidance and process. I.e. not to be used until a problem occurs and with some kind of justification, put in a specific place/lane outside of any Controlled area and even be mentioned/catered for in AAR's.

It's just a fact of life that things happen, people often have to rush back late from work and the smaller things like working out if Microsoft updates are due, software updates to any of the software we use, restarts etc, fall down on the list of things to do when catching up with the hectic MDC building, reading plans, making/eating dinner.

REQ HELP: Add a third blue AWACS

Is is possible to adda third blue AWACS to the script.
This is inteded for advanced scenario trainings when the other AWACS is not suitable.

REQ HELP: Tanker and AWACS orbits

Ok, I have now added AWACS and Tankers to the .miz.
What is currently in the .miz is what I would like their orbits to be.

Also, as @daviddcs mentioned in Issue #7 , the idea is not to have all of these up all the time, but beeing able to request what you need for a certain event.

On a normal event, the following tracks should be active:

AWACS: MAGIC
Tanker:
AR201 - For Vipers
AR301 - For Hornets and Tomcats
(So only blue assets, as aggressors assets is then requested if needed , to reduce strain on the server)

I am not sure how to do this in a good way, but then have a possibility for activating a new tanker or AWACS, and also to deactivate on of the tracks in action.

All AWACS and Tankers should start at:

Tankers should follows corridors or stay outside range airspace during transit

Carrier on Red and Blue

To facilitate proper training for 494th and 108th there need to be a red carrier, and a blue carrier to ensure that both red and blue can use carriers (unlike todays TRM).

REQ HELP: Range 14 - Dynamic CAS Range

At Range 14 I have setup many units to create a dynamic CAS scenario that can be replayed by both FAC(A)'s and JTACs.

In the center is a friendly FOB.

Around it are 5 zones. 3 enemy (T14_1_North, T14_1_East and T14_1_South) and 2 friendly (T14_1_FR_North and T14_1_FR_South).
The zones are just for visual representation.
Within the zones I have several groups set to late-activation. Each group have various orders.
At the start of the scenario all groups are deactivated.

I request help for the following:

Add a F10 menu to activate CAS scenario Range 10.
Once the JTAC or FAC(A) click that button, the scenario starts.

The first action is to randomly select if either enemy from North or South is used. If North is used, then friendlies will enter from South, and vice verca. Enemy from East will always be used.

At a random interval between 1 and 3 minutes the first group of enemies will be activated.
(It will select randomly between EAST and NORTH/SOUTH).

After that, it will randomly activate remaining groups in a random interval between 2 and 6 minutes. (one group at a time)

Friendly group activation
At a random interval between 4 and 25 minutes will the friendly group be activated (Either NORTH or SOUTH depending on where enemies are spawning from).

@132nd-Entropy Would it be possible to add a menu option to turn on the SAMs now in place at range 12?

Range 12 is inteded as a scenario range (have option for scenario). For that having the ability to turn on one or more of the 4 static SAM systems would be beneficial. If possible having an option for a easy, medium and hard for each SAM.

Requested functions:

  • Ability to activate (and deactivate each threat site individually)
  • Ability to use different difficulty levels on the SAM sites

Difficutly level:
Easy: SAM is always on (after beeing activated), and do not react to beeing shot at.
Medium: SAM is always on (after beeing activated) until fired upon by HARM. When a HARM is fired at the site, the radar shut down on the threat site. Random delay of 3-9 seconds after launch of HARM before the site shuts down. Let the radar be off in a random interval between 60-180 seconds before active again.
Hard: After activation, SAM is on in random intervals between 60-200 seconds. Then it is off in random intervals between 60-200 seconds. . When a HARM is fired at the site, the radar shut down on the threat site. Random delay of 3-9 seconds after launch of HARM before the radars shuts down. Move the group a random interval between 30-100m in any direction. Let the radar be off in a random interval between 60-180 seconds before active again.

Unsure if its a viper thing or not, but the BRG heading give's a wonky false positive. Is there another 49X in play?

Spawning at Al Dahfra

@Neck - Please check the Tomcat's on Apron 1 main. There are some spawn points directly in the path of others. I think they should be one line if possible. Example; just ready to taxi, bam a tomcat 40ft wide spawns in front of you.

Range 6 - Development-Ideas

Suggestions for Range 6:

  • Create a "GREEN ZONE" in the urban area

  • Add a FARP

  • Create a FOB (for convoys moving between green zone and FOB)

  • Add FARP at the FOB?

  • Dynamic targets / randomization

  • Convoy escort (With JTAC and without JTAC)

  • Different Convoys /Different routes

REQ HELP: Range 10 - AR/SCAR targets

Request help for scripting

Request this function to be activated using the F10 radio menu.

Would it be possible to place randomly one of 5 different configurations in the rangezone, defined by a A-10, late activated, labelled AR_zone_R10 (already in the .miz)

The 5 different configurations are locate as late activated units in Iran.
Each configuration consist of 4-6 groups, but are different type of formation (Either a Motorized BN,, Mechanized BN, Armor BN, Regimental Element, or HVT tgts.
Then the task is for the AR flight is to locate and identify what can of unit that is in the zone, and beeing able to kill the most important unit in that formation. Gives incentives to be able to recognize and target most important targets, thus the AR or SCAR role.

IF possible, once activated, have the groups move every 15 minutes, driving for 500-1500m within the same AR zone.

SEAD Training Range

30 x 30 NM (Killbox-sized) Range with multiple types of SAM systems inside, activated from F10 Menus.

Idea is to have a place to train basic offensive tactics against known threats. Also, if this range could be inside a larger range, then we could use it for strikes

On demand Tankers

  • The ability to spawn(trigger start) tankers on demand allows you to time tanker on station time to when the flight expects to arrive for tanking.
  • The ability to move tankers between different pre-defined tracks. (allows for moving KC135's between suitable for hogs and vipers.
  • Adds a factor of planning, to include tanker fuel.
  • Would be nice with tanker fuel state being sent to a single unit on an airfield, that a 176th member can "man" using combined arms, allowing him to receive periodic messages about fuel states on AI assets (AEW and Tankers)

Enemy shipping range

With the advent of the AGM-84 Harpoon, and the availability of open sea, Anti Shipping missions have barely been touched in 132nd. I'd like to see this, personally, i'm sure the 494th would.

REQ HELP: Adding carriers (Blue+Red)

Would it be possible to add carrier script to the following carriers:
BLUE
CVN-74
TACAN 74X

RED
CVN-68
TACAN 68X

Carriers are in the .miz already in their area. So can setup a racetrack in that position
(But do not add any rescue helicopter or statics on deck, should be as clean as possible)

If possible, have a Carrier tanker as a F10 option to launch if needed (but not airborne by default)

On demand AEW

  • Not having AEW assets in play constantly should improve performance.
  • Enabling the use of different "tracks" would allow the "SD" to position the platform for suitable radar and radio coverage.
  • Not having constant AEW assets, allows for training w/o E3 or E2 datalink support for hornets
  • Having different tracks is not so complicated, you set a trigger to switch-waypoint to a waypoint preceding the waypoint with the orbit(trigger)
  • Allows for the ability to restrict E3/E2 use to when a 176th is on station.
  • Allows for using alternate radar sources for EW. (ground based GCI gameplay)

Thoughts on range construct.

Presuming here that Advanced training focuses on LFE's.

I think very little effort should be put into declaration of different ranges. Work it more like a mission, have a large range and modify/de-conflict with use of ACP/ROZ/ROE/HARDDECKS. Work assets closer together instead of having a +300NM spread.
Less work on different range orders, more work on targets and types of tasking.

REQ HELP: Add tanker track AR203 and AR305 to tankerscript

Is it possible to add two more tanker tracks to the tanker script functionality.

These units are default off, and can be activated using the F10 menu.
These 2 tracks specificly are intended for advanced training scenarios (EX RED STORM)
