xenus-laravel's Introduction

This package integrates Xenus to the Laravel and Lumen frameworks (from version 5.8 up to the latest 9.0) :

  • Out of the box failed jobs and migrations integration
  • Ready to work event dispatcher

Xenus is a simple and elegant MongoDB ODM. Learn more : https://github.com/abellion/xenus

Installation

If you haven't already installed Xenus, and thus satisfied its requirement to the mongodb extension, make sure to install the extension before requiring this package : https://www.php.net/manual/en/mongodb.installation.php Once installed, require the package :

composer require abellion/xenus-laravel

Configuration

An instance of the Xenus\Connection class will automatically be constructed and registered inside the service container for you. To do so, Xenus reads the connection's settings from your config/database.php file under the mongodb.connection key. It must at least contain the host and the database you wish to connect to :

[
    'mongodb' => [
        'connection' => [
            'host' => 'mongodb://localhost:27017',
            'database' => 'my_database'
        ]
    ]
]

Service provider

In order to configure your collections, that is linking them to the Laravel's event dispatcher and defining them as singleton inside the service container, you must create a service provider. This service provider must extend Xenus\Laravel\XenusServiceProvider and contain a $collections property holding your collections :

use Xenus\Laravel\XenusServiceProvider as ServiceProvider;

class XenusServiceProvider extends ServiceProvider
{
    protected $collections = [
        MyCollection::class
    ];
}

Failed jobs and migrations

The failed jobs and migrations bridges come pre-configured and ready to work. If you want to change the default collections names they use, edit the following :

For the migrations :

// config/database.php

[
    'migrations' => 'my_migration_collection'
]

For the failed jobs :

// config/queue.php

[
    'failed' => [
        'collection' => 'my_failed_jobs_collection'
    ]
]

xenus-laravel's Issues

Doesn't work with the latest Xenus version [0.19]

Hi @abellion, thanks a ton for your work on Xenus.

I just tried installing xenus-laravel and it looks to have some compatibility issues with the most recent release (0.19) of Xenus which brings in support for php 8.1.

I'm running php8.1 locally and here's the "require" portion of my composer.json:

    "require": {
        "php": "^8.1",
        "abellion/xenus": "0.19",
        "laravel/lumen-framework": "^9.0",
        "mongodb/mongodb": "1.11.0"
    },

Currently, when I try running:

composer require abellion/xenus-laravel:0.3

this is the output:

./composer.json has been updated
Running composer update abellion/xenus-laravel
Loading composer repositories with package information
Info from https://repo.packagist.org: #StandWithUkraine
Updating dependencies
Your requirements could not be resolved to an installable set of packages.

  Problem 1
    - Root composer.json requires abellion/xenus-laravel 0.3 -> satisfiable by abellion/xenus-laravel[0.3].
    - abellion/xenus-laravel 0.3 requires abellion/xenus ^0.18.0 -> found abellion/xenus[0.18] but it conflicts with your root composer.json require (0.19).

Use the option --with-all-dependencies (-W) to allow upgrades, downgrades and removals for packages currently locked to specific versions.

Installation failed, reverting ./composer.json and ./composer.lock to their original content.

Looks like it's caused by this line in xenus-laravel's dependency list that restricts the acceptable Xenus versions to the 0.18.x range. Do you think we can safely expand this range to include Xenus 0.19.x?
