acme text cursor drawing difference with plan9

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  Change text color to non-black in acme.c.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

  On plan9 cursor has the color of the text, on plan9port it's black in the middle. See this screenshot: https://paste.xinu.at/bCCF3n/

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

 Latest tarball on OpenBSD.

nedmail w command losses track of the message

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. run nedmail (mailfs is assumed to be properly configured)
2. type 1 w /tmp/file.1

expected to have the message saved in /tmp/file.1 instead you get 

!message disappeared

20140306 on an openbsd 5.6 pc

Please provide any additional information below.
Similar issue noted in http://9fans.net/archive/2010/03/485

The pipe commands works ok. If I do the following I can get my message saved
:1 | cat > /tmp/file.1

initially going through 
http://swtch.com/usr/local/plan9/src/cmd/upas/ned/nedmail.c

the first point that I might get that error is when appendtofile() tries to 
open the message for reading.

9l broken on Linux x86_64 (Ubuntu 12.04)?

After a fresh install:

$ 9l
/usr/local/plan9/src/lib9/main.c:10: undefined reference to `p9main'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
