I ran a build on my team city today and got this error message.
I know that 0.22.0 has just been released
Error: The assembly 'Cake.Compression, Version=0.1.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'
is referencing an older version of Cake.Core (0.18.0).
This assembly need to reference at least Cake.Core version 0.22.0.
Another option is to downgrade Cake to an earlier version.
It's not recommended, but you can explicitly opt-out of assembly verification
by configuring the Skip Verification setting to true
(i.e. command line parameter "--settings_skipverification=true",
envrionment variable "CAKE_SETTINGS_SKIPVERIFICATION=true",
read more about configuration at https://cakebuild.net/docs/fundamentals/configuration)
Process exited with code 1
Hello @akordowski!
I noticed your addin only targets netstandard2.1
at the moment, which makes it impossible to use with the .NET Framework runner.
If possible, add at netstandard2.0
at a minimum, and bonus points if you can also add net5.0
and net461
. Below are the current recommendations for Cake addins, for reference.

Have a look at this PR:
This assumes that you have added XML Documentation to your addin, as described here:

Thanks again for creating this Cake Addin, we really appreciate the effort that you have put in to creating it.
We, the Cake Team, recently announced a new Cake Contrib Icon, details of which can be found here:
http://cakebuild.net/blog/2017/06/new-cake-contrib-icon
Would you consider changing the nuspec file for your NuGet Package to use this new Cake Contrib Icon? If so, the recommended URL to use is:
Details of the above URL can be found in the repository here:

Please let me know if you have any questions.
We've recently released new icons for Cake extensions, to help more easily differentiate Cake Addins, Modules, Recipes, etc.

I was struggling with why my GZIP wasn't working as expected until I read the source code and realized you both TAR AND GZIP the files. The problem is my files are already in a TAR (It's a save of a Docker image, which is output as a TAR). Seems kinda of weird that you do both by default. Is there a way to allow GZIP without TAR? I know doing this by default would be a breaking change.
with new Cake 1.0.0 I get this warning:
"cake.tool" (Version 1.0.0) restored ...
The assembly 'Cake.Compression, Version=0.2.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' is referencing an older version of Cake.Core (0.34.1).
For best compatibility it should target Cake.Core version 1.0.0.
The NuGet Gallery will soon include a "Cake" tab with instructions on how to use NuGet packages in Cake build scripts. I'd like to suggest that you include the tag cake-addin
in the NuGet package of this addin, so that the NuGet Gallery can display the correct instructions to install this addin.
The UI will look similar to this:

Was just wondering if you had seen the above? Is it a duplicate?
Thanks!
Would be great to have 7zip support (dependent on a nuget package like 7-Zip.x64 for command line or SevenZipSharp) to allow compressing with 7zip.
Background is that the .net < 4.6.1 ZipCompress does remove empty folders. Also having .7z support would be great ;)
Currently date isn't set on Zip entries.
Getting the following error when trying to use this adding with Cake.CoreClr:
Could not find any assemblies compatible with .NETStandard,Version=v1.6.
Error: Cake.Core.CakeException: Failed to install addin 'Cake.Compression'.
This is probably because this addin is still being compiled against the full dotnet framework instead of netstandard. If you would like I can send a PR to fix this.
Hi,
I'm having difficulty using Cake.Compression
in our build.
The .cake
file.
// Using Cake (C# Make) http://cakebuild.net
#addin "Cake.Compression"
#tool "nuget:?package=SharpZipLib"
Gives the error message,
Error: Could not load file or assembly 'ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib, Version=0.86.0.518, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=1b03e6acf1164f73' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I tried to resolve it by adding the #tool "nuget:?package=SharpZipLib"
reference to no avail.
