I'm using Minecraft 1.16.3 with Forge 34.1.25, Primal Winter 2.0.3
I wrote in like 85% of all Biome's O' Plenty and Vanilla biomes, only to have the config re-write itself to default upon launch.
Yo, the snowy leaves render their leaves black when playing on Fast graphics. It returns to normal when on Fancy. Not really a big issue, but Fancy can wreck people's frames for those unfortunate enough to not have a very good PC.
maybe it could be based on the whites from game of thrones.
My game seems to crash when i try to run the mod (primalwinter-forge-1.16.2-2.0.0.jar) along side optifine for minecraft 1.16.3. When i run either of them separately they work fine.
Crash report (first time using pastebin so i assume this is how its done)
This happens most of the time if you go above the nether bedrock however sometimes it doesn't appear automatically if the chunk is not loaded.
so obviously putting this mod on the client and joining a vanilla server won't transfer the mechanics and the new blocks, but from what I'm seeing, it should be possible to apply the fog, snow, sky, and biome changes (client-sided) when you join a server. you could implement an option in the config for this. In addition to this, u could also add an option to make it snow all the time on servers client-wise than for it to only snow when it starts raining/snowing on the server (of course snow layers won't generate). adding onto that, you could either make a resource pack or implement it in fabric that replaces the default textures with the ones from the mod like replacing the oak logs texture with the snowy oak logs (making this as an option in the config would be nice as well if you're doing this from fabric and not a resource pack).
It would be great if Trees that grow in snowy biomes are their Snowy Variants!
Same saplings, but just checks to see whether it's biome is snowy or not, right?
Is there a Primal winter compatible texture pack?
I don't really like vanilla textures and when i applie a texturepack the snowy variants arent replaced and it looks even worse half world texturepack half world not.
Resolution or theme of the Pack doesn't matter
It would be nice to see you add somewhere in the config something to stop from layering after generating. That way I can play with this mod without worries in the long term, without constantly clearing snow.
Unless there is already a system in place?
The sound is nice when you're outside fighting the storm, but it seems to get a bit tiring rather quickly. Would be nice if we could get a config option to disable the sound while indoors, if possible.
I joined my minecraft modded world when I forgot to remove the primal winter mod from my mods folder. My world became infinitely snowy and that's not the beginning of it. When I removed the mod from my minecraft world, the world stayed in a thunderstorm state and will never stop thundering no matter what. I need help please tell me how to fix this. Modded mobs are much stronger in the storms so I need the thunder to stop. Please help!
Animals will not spawn on white grass no matter if the layers of snow are removed. (This may not be a bug) Animals will not spawn on regular grass as well.
Version: 1.16.4 (Possibly 1.16.5 as well)
Forge Version: 35.1.37 and beyond
Steps to recreate:
Essentially, there's a glitch in Primal Winter, where snowy vines process layers of snow in the block directly under them as a full block from certain directions, essentially resulting in invisible blocks in place of snow layers. This glitch makes navigating jungles and swamps particularly frustrating.
When updating almost 200 mods in my modpack on the Twitch launcher, I go through and click the up arrows to update them all, when the project has mixed forge/fabric it downloads the forge mod in my fabric modpack, and the fabric mod in my forge modpack, breaking the packs, please separate the projects.
When snow is laying on the ground and you place a block its like flying over the snow
By the "entire frozen thing" I mean the: snowfall effect, snow layer pile up, fog and ice spike/ice terrain generation and all other stuff that achieves the frozen look of the mod.
In the nether if you don't plan on going above the bedrock layer, having snow is pointless. Allowing people to disable it in the nether would probably squeeze in a few extra frames as there would be no snow piling up above you constantly and ice spikes generating.
In the end it is up to personal preference, what I have personally noticed is that white snow particles falling in a straight line really do contrast quite hard against a dark purple background, and that is why I would personally like to have the ability to disable it.
In summary more customizations choices on how you want your world to be affected by the mod.
In a addition, I would suggest a snowy variant of endstone, since the end looks quite messy as it is currently.
(There is a chance that I have missed the obvious config for this even though i've looked for it a few times already, if this is the case please do make the config more obvious.)
Any plans to update soon to 1.17.1?
Confirmed with Tropicraft. I blacklisted every biome in the tropics in attempt to have a snowy overworld but normal tropics. However while it does not snow there it is stuck permanently thunderstorming.
This is with Forge 1.16.5
So i made a giant glass demi-sphere above ground and found out that even without any opening to the outside, there is still that annoying fog effect inside the ball. Any idea of to supress it while indoor under the glass ? I'm on forge btw. Thanks in advance for any tips.
Are there any future plans to add the option of ice/snow not melting?
It fits with the theme of a never ending snowstorm so the blocks don't even have the time to melt.
There is the Permafrost mod but it has not seen any updates in 2 years.
What'll exactly happen if I have serene seasons installed?
Do you plan a 1.16.3 version?
is there a 1.17.1 version coming? can we get an estimate?
I want to add something to my server for a christmas theme and I thought I'd use Primal Winter however it adds biome generation. I thought maybe it'd be a good idea to make a separate pack/mod that Is Primal Winter lite or something that only adds the snow mechanics and the fog. Thanks!
Mentioned in #7 was an idea of escaping the snowy dimension, using a biome whitelist.
I'd be very curious to see if this concept gets used by packs, and how it does end up. For example, using the biome whitelist, this could be used to create snowy "dimensions" and could very simply be used to "escape" the snowy dimension for something else.
I would really like to set up something like this, and I'm wondering if you could suggest how this might be best accomplished. I'm guessing it would require a mod to add something like a second overworld at least. Do you know if such a mod already exists and could be configured for this purpose? Or would a new mod need to be written?
So I was just going on with my day and decided to go to my modded survival world, and all the sudden it started snowing really hard. I realized I forgot to remove this mod from the mods folder and closed minecraft, removed the mod from my folder, and rejoined my minecraft world. It kept thundering so I decided to sleep in a minecraft bed, and the thunder never ended. I think my world got ruined by this mod and the rain will never stop (I am using a big 35 mods modpack I made in this world, and it is really hard to survive in the rain due to the really strong modded mobs spawning in the thunder) I really want to turn my world back to normal so please help me with this. Thank you.
During snow placement by weather, any blocks which can be converted to snowy forms (or are, during world gen via the ChunkPrimer
mixin) should be converted underneath newly placed snow. (Leaves, logs, and misc. ground materials.
It would be awesome if you could add a toggle to turn the biome list from a blacklist into a whitelist, to make it easier to only have a handful of biomes winterified. Thanks ^^
Snowy logs should have the minecraft:log
tag.
Snowy leaves should have the minecraft:leaves
tag.
Make replacing blocks in WorldGenRegionMixin class configurable.
The main reason to do that, is because you can't place tree saplings on snowy grass block.
Also, when the new tree grow, it doesn't have new snowy leaves block, so it looks quite weird.
And etc.
Bonjour a tous
Je me demandais, comment enlever les particule de la tempΓͺte de neige
je vous remercie pour toutes aides.
crash-2021-01-08_11.50.56-client.txt
Not really sure what this is caused by.
Dynamic Surroundings will also completely override this mod's wind sound effects.
will this mod be shifting to forge only with 1.16.5 onward?
I try using the /weather rain Command in a singleplayer world on 1.16.4 fabric with this mod, and nothing happens after the command is sent.
Could you make a mod similar to primal winter but which engulfed the biome underwater while still allowing the vanilla and mod structure to spawn normally and spawn mobs if they dried up an area?
Version: 1.16.4 and beyond
Forge: 35.1.37 and beyond
Primal Winter Version: 2.0.5
How to recreate:
So, essentially, Primal Winter has this really weird bug, where the snowstorm is being affected by the shadows coming from the thunderstorm itself. To sum things up, when you turn the brightness down, the snow particles get kinda... screwed up. Their textures darken, and they start to look, like, almost black.
Hi! I'm really interested in this mod specifically but I have yet to download. I host a modded server (around 110 mods) with a group of friends and plan on having a "Winter Update" with quests and whatnot for the holiday season when it rolls around every year. I only ask this question because I would like to remove it after the real-life winter season is over and have the landscape in the world return to normal. Is this what happens without the mod? And/or will this cause any lasting issues for the world or for other mods that you know of? I looked at a couple other winter mods before this one and I think this looks the best, plus having the fog and snowy mobs everywhere. Please let me know!
Main issue is that anyone wishing to use these commands can't reliably set them, as on a world reload primal winter will try and correct them. Likely need some way of marking a world as already changed? Possibly a world capability or saved data.
As implemented, if I put a piece of glass at the top of a column and go down to bedrock, I still hear wind. The sound would make more sense if it occurred like rain sounds
So, this is guess and I'm not a 100% sure if it's serene seasons (I've looked at the log it seems like it), but, since serene changes the biomes temperature and primal winter ALSO change the world temperature, it causes a bit of a problem and causes a crash

Logs

Also, Optifine is not the cause, I added Optifine and Optiforge AFTER the first crash happen, then it continued crashing, this is the latest one
Ok so heres the issue : the configs do not allow any changes in this version.
Even if i dont change anything, the logs says that the default configs are incorrect and reset them to the "correct default value"
here are the logs :
Logs with normal Config File.txt
Logs with modified Config file.txt
I tried placing the additionnal biomes before the default ones, after the default ones, deleting the default biomes and trying to add vanilla biomes. None of those worked. The 1.16 version worked just fine but i have no clue why the 1.15 version doesnt.
Hey I have a little probleme when i try to load the game with the mod, it says that to me :
The game crashed whilst initializing game
Error: java.lang.NullPointerException: Registry Object not present: primalwinter:snowy_spruce_leaves
Code de sortie : -1
And there is the crash repport :

I love the concept of this mod but I definitely would be much more interested if it was a separate dimension.
I think a clone of the overworld (with the same seed) would make for a quite interesting experience, opening a portal and it being in the same location but a freezing nightmare.
Especially if it worked with Immersive Portals.
